What’s New with SCECHs?

Welcome back to another great school year! We hope you had a wonderful break. We have been working hard all summer at Kent ISD to prepare for another great year of professional development. We have some exciting new changes in the world of SCECHs (State Continuing Education Clock Hours) we wanted to share with you!

NEW SCECH Coordinator

Over the summer we said say goodbye to Bri Conners as our SCECH coordinator. She has moved on to a new role at Kent ISD.

Our new SCECH Coordinator is  Maddy Burns! Maddy has been learning everything about SCECHs over the summer and getting ready for the new year so that she can answer all of your questions.

SCECH Credits are Free!

That’s right, we will not be charging you to earn SCECH credits when you attend workshops at Kent ISD this school year. So you can put that money back in your pocket.

More SCECH Credits Available!

We are now able to apply for SCECH credits for courses that are as short as 1 hour long. We are also able to round to the nearest quarter hour when applying. These two changes mean we will be able to offer you more opportunities to earn SCECH credits.  For example, last year if you attended a course that was 4.5 hours long, we could only offer it for 4 credits. Now we can offer it for 4.5 credits. Those half credits will add up.
