On December 12, 2014, the Teen Leadership Team and The Healthy, Safe, Drug-Free Schools and Communities Coalition will host another Empowering Youth Leadership Conference.

At the conference, the students will learn to plan and implement strategies in their schools to promote youth leadership while reducing alcohol and drug use. Students will also be introduced to features from the National Youth Leadership Initiative training.

This conference will be led by Kent County high school students along with two national trainers from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). The National Trainers, Colber Prosper and Melanee Piskai, are experienced at working with students to impact their communities. Colber and Melanee will take the students through a step-by-step process to design an action plan.

According to Sydney Burrows, Kent ISD Health Education Specialist, “Our Teen Leadership Team is thrilled to bring the youth trainers from the nation’s capital to Grand Rapids.  Colber and Melanee will connect with the students at the conference.  They will motivate and equip our students to improve their schools and communities.”

This is a great opportunity to inspire students to make a difference in their community.
